Whenever I find myself invited to any sort of gathering, be it a holiday party, dinner party or just a low-key get-together with friends, I always want to be sure that I contribute some kind of delicious snack. Being a food blogger, it's kind of expected, ya know 😉
And while I have a wide selection of recipes to choose from (chocolate hummus and chicken nachos are always a hit) and occasionally I even test new recipes out on my friends, when I need something simple yet guaranteed to be a crowd-pleaser, spinach dip it is!
However, making the dip is the easy part. Deciding on what to bring along to accompany it can take a bit more thinking.
So if you've found yourself with a tray of spinach dip and are now wondering what to serve with it to really make it shine, I've got you covered!
Whether serving a cold or hot version, here are the best dippers and sides to serve with it.
Plus, if you find yourself with leftovers (which, let's be honest, rarely happens with this creamy and flavorful dip!), I've got a list of creative ways to use that, too.
I hope this collection give you plenty of inspiration!
What to Dip in Spinach Dip
First things first, let's go over what to dip in your dip. This creamy appetizer is delicious with so many different accompaniments and you can't go wrong with any of these ideas.
Raw Vegetables
Fresh vegetables are one of my favorite ways to enjoy this delicious dip. Any of your favorite crunchy veggies are perfect for dipping (or even dip your not-so-favorite vegetables because spinach dip automatically makes them taste sooo much better!). Here are some suggestions:
- Carrot Sticks
- Celery Sticks
- Snap Peas
- Cherry Tomatoes
- Cucumber Slices
- Red Peppers
- Broccoli
- Cauliflower
- Asparagus
- Radishes
TIP: When preparing your vegetables, cut them thick enough that they will hold up to dipping.
Chips
Nothing beats the contrast of creamy spinach dip and a crunchy chip- chips and dip are the perfect pair. Here are some ideas:
- Tortilla Chips
- Potato Chips (check out this healthier recipe- made in the air fryer!)
- Veggie Chips (like these homemade beet chips)
- Pita Chips
- Bagel Chips
TIP: Be sure to choose a chip that is sturdy enough to hold up to your dipping.
Crackers
Along the same line as chips, crackers are a great partner to spinach dip. Unlike chips, I find most crackers to be sturdy enough to better hold up to the thick dip and not break when you are dipping. Some of my favorite crackers to use are:
- Rice Crackers (Plain or Sesame)
- Seed Crackers (I love the Mary's Gone Crackers brand)
- Baked Whole Wheat Wafers (such as Triscuits)
Bread
Some kind of bread is guaranteed to be a hit served with spinach dip!
- Flatbread (Such as Naan Bread or Pita Bread)- Make it extra tasty by warming it in the oven at 350 F for 2-3 minutes and then brushing it with butter and some garlic.
- Beer Bread or Soda Bread- These don't require any yeast to make and so if you'd like to serve your spin dip with homemade bread but are new to baking bread, this is the perfect place to start.
- No-Knead Bread- This artisan recipe does use yeast but doesn't require any kneading making it another great recipe for bread beginners.
- Baguette- You can serve it fresh or try thinly slicing and lightly toasting it.
- Croutons- Homemade croutons are a great option! Their crunch makes for a delicious contrast with the creaminess of the dip.
- Sourdough- And last but most certainly not least, sourdough bread is fantastic with spinach dip. You can slice it up nicely or just rip it into little bite sized chunks.
TIP: If you go the bread route, you may also want to provide another dipper such as rice crackers or vegetables if anyone needs a gluten-free alternative.
Want to Serve Your Spinach Dip in a Bread Bowl?
- Slice 1 inch off the top of a sourdough loaf and then hollow it out (breaking the bread up into pieces to save for serving), leaving about ¾ inch (2 cm) thick shell.
- Fill with dip, place the top back on and wrap with 2 layers of tin foil. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 40-50 minutes until heated through (for a warm dip).
- For a cold dip, you can simply serve it as is after filling.
Other Ideas
While these don't fit in any of the previous categories, if you're looking for something a bit more creative than the classic (but still fantastic) chips, veggies or bread, you can try some of these!
- Pretzels or Pretzel Bites
- Rice Cakes
- Baked Fries or Potato Wedges
- Baked Plantains
- Popcorn
What to Serve with Spinach Dip
Besides what to dip in your creamy appetizer, you might be wondering what other side dish or snacks you could serve to round out your spread. Any appetizer, really, is a great choice!
Here are some ideas that would complement your spinach dip and dippers:
- Chicken Wings
- Nachos (Fajita, Ground Turkey or Chimichurri Nachos would all be excellent!)
- Potato Skins
- Meat and Cheese Board
- Sweet Potato Bites
- Mezze platter with olives, tabbouleh, marinated artichokes, roasted eggplant, etc.
- Fruit Tray with Dip (such as Chocolate Hummus)
- More dips! Serve your spinach dip with a spread of other delicious dips. As a bonus, you can serve it all with an array of dippers to use in all of the options! Some of my favorites to make with it are:
- Hummus (Try Dill Pickle or Beet Hummus for extra color and flavor)
- Buffalo Chicken Dip
- Guacamole
- 7 Layer Dip
Uses for Leftover Spinach Dip
So you've made and served your spinach dip! I'm sure it was a hit 🙂 If you happen to have some leftovers that you'd like to make the most of, here are some things you can try:
On Burgers- Take inspiration from this burger recipe and spread leftover spinach dip on top of your burger patty.
On Sandwiches or Toast- Along the same line as the burgers, try using your spinach dip as a sandwich spread or simply on toast. Adding it to a grilled cheese sandwich would be a real lunchtime treat!
Make Stuffed Chicken Breasts- Follow the stuffing and baking directions from this chicken breast recipe but use your leftover spinach dip instead of the filling.
Or Stuffed Mushrooms- Another tasty use for it is this recipe. Using already made spinach dip makes it so easy.
With Eggs- Stir leftover dip into scrambled eggs or use it as the topping for omelets.
