Collage of ways to eat hummus.

It never ceases to amaze me that something with such a simple main ingredient, chickpeas, can transform into a dip as delicious as hummus.

I make my own hummus weekly with all sorts of variations (even as a tasty treat with chocolate hummus!) and enjoy trying out different ways to use it.

From experimenting with all sorts of dippers (if you haven't dipped your fries in roasted garlic hummus, this is your sign to start!) to trying it out as a salad dressing and making a quinoa, shrimp and hummus bowl, it has yet to disappoint.

So I've created this collection of all sorts of different ways to enjoy it.

I hope that this list gives you plenty of inspiration!

Garnishes for Hummus

Take your plain hummus to the next level by garnishing it with:

  • A drizzle of good quality olive oil
  • Crumbled Feta cheese
  • Sesame seeds
  • Fresh herbs such as chopped parsley or chives
  • Everything Bagel Seasoning
  • Chopped roasted red peppers (especially great on red pepper hummus)
  • Roasted chickpeas (the crunch perfectly compliments the smooth texture of the creamy spread!)

What to Dip in Classic Hummus

This creamy dip is delicious with so many different dippers. You can't go wrong with any of these ideas.

Raw Vegetables

Fresh vegetables are one of my favorite ways to enjoy this creamy dip for a nutritious snack. Because even when I eat my favorite veggies, they gotta have some kind of delicious dip!

  • Carrot Sticks
  • Snap Peas
  • Celery Sticks
  • Cherry Tomatoes
  • Cucumber Slices
  • Red Peppers
  • Celery
  • Broccoli
  • Cauliflower
  • Radishes

Chips

Nothing beats the contrast of creamy hummus and a crunchy chip. Just be sure to choose a chip that is sturdy enough to hold up to your dipping. Here are some ideas:

  • Kale Chips
  • Bagel Chips
  • Pita Chips
  • Tortilla Chips

Other Ideas

If you are looking for something other than veggies or chips to dip, any of these would be a great option:

  • Pretzels
  • Crackers
  • Pita Bread
  • Rice Cakes
  • Baked Fries
  • Baked Plantains

What to Serve with Hummus

Besides what to dip in your savory hummus, you might be wondering what other side dish or snacks you could serve to round out your platter. Here are some ideas that would complement your traditional hummus and dippers:

  • Mezze platter with olives, tabbouleh, marinated artichokes, roasted eggplant, etc.
  • Bowl of Roasted Nuts
  • Fruit Tray with Dip (such as Chocolate Hummus)
  • Cheese Board

More Ways to Use Hummus
